Have you ever been driving down the road or interstate, specifically in the southern U.S. states and seen those faded Red Man or Mail Pouch Chewing Tobacco ads painted on old barns and wondered what exactly Chewing tobacco was and, why the ads were painted on them? We did and thought why not create a website that gave a bit of history on Chewing Tobacco along with some little known facts about it! Growing up in the hills of Tennessee and Kentucky, I’ve seen those barn ads for most of my childhood with Red Man and its Indian Head logo being only one of a bunch of chewing tobacco brands that would use barns as a means of advertising. There’s also Beech Nut, Levi Garrett’s, Mail Pouch and Days-o-Work just to name a few but, we want to get more into the tobacco its self and the different types so, without anymore further trips down memory lane, let’s talk some chewing tobacco history!
